A relief news has come against the ongoing fight against Corona. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on Saturday gave emergency approval for the treatment of corona with the drug 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG). This will be an alternative treatment for a corona infected patient. The RT-PCR report of the patients on whom this drug was used came negative.
This drug helps in rapid recovery of corona patients by stopping the growth of infection. The 2-DG drug has been prepared by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Lab Institute of Nuclear Medicine with the help of Dr. Reddy's Laboratory. In initial trials, it has been found that it also improves the oxygen level of the patient.
